What Is Truck Tool Box?

The truck toolbox is used to store truck equipment and tools you need on regular basis for the short and long term. One can also store different important things in that because it’s safe and non-breakable so it’s good for safety measures.

The toolbox is also known as a toolkit, tool chest, workbox. It majorly protects the owner’s tools.

What To Keep In The Toolbox?

Well, it totally depends on your location, purpose, and time you are going for.

But still here are some common things owners should keep in the toolbox.

The list of supplies is as follows –

  • Thick Tissue paper
  • Duct tape
  • Good hand cleaner
  • Trash bags
  • Spare parts and batteries
  • Piece of cloth
  • Nuts and bolts
  • Cable wires
  • Mechanical glues

 

  1. Toolbox will also have basic tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, hammers, bolt cutters, and other basic equipment.
  2. It will also carry some basic gear like raincoats, rubber boots, etc.
  3. Some emergency equipments are necessary to carry like a medical kit, flexible water container, flashlight, etc.

The owner of a truck must install a toolbox in it. It’s very necessary to have one. Whether it be a brand new truck or an old one it’s necessary to have a toolbox in it. A truck with no toolbox will look messy because dirty tools and tools will also be damaged if not kept properly.

Installation of a toolbox in your truck will save your time as all the tools and types of equipment will be well organized and easy to find. The truck tools are expensive so it’s necessary to keep them safe and away from elements. They can be damaged if exposed to air for a longer time.

 

What Are Toolbox Made Up Of?

Majorly they are made of steel or aluminum but nowadays plastic toolboxes are more Trendy. The reason behind this is plastic toolboxes are very handy with a lightweight plus they are budget-friendly too.

Therefore the big question arises is that which is good? If you are concerned with the durability of the toolbox you should go with the steel toolbox as it’s best in terms of durability, additionally, it can also carry heavier equipment.

In case you don’t have that work with heavy equipment then you can go with an aluminum toolbox as they are good in durability feature.

Lastly, if you want a toolbox for the short term and also don’t have that work with heavy equipment you can choose a plastic toolbox. , It is less expensive and lightweight too.

There are two more types of toolbox. They are – waterproof toolbox and a cantilever toolbox.

 

How To Install A Truck Toolbox Without Drilling?

Now a days owners of the truck feel it necessary to have a toolbox because they are now aware of the value of having a toolbox and obviously any truck owner will like to find tools easily in good condition.

This could happen only when you will have a toolbox of your choice in your truck bed or SUV.

 

Important Points To Carry In Mind While Installing A Toolbox In The Truck

  • Choose the right tools which are easy to install.
  • Toolbox should be safe and locked.
  • Take good care of the truck not to get damaged while installing a toolbox.

 

Installation Of Toolbox In Truck Without Drilling

Essential tools required by a mechanic while installing- Screwdriver, wrench, aluminum hooks, aluminum heavy-duty bolts, nuts, measuring tapes, safety gloves, and toolbox kit.

The steps for installation of the truck toolbox are as follows

  1. Select a suitable space to work within truck and use the measuring tape to measure the correct distance and area of installation. Work in a room with a lot of space and make sure that the toolbox lead should get open and close easily. It’s the most important aspect of measurement. If the lead is hard to open there is no benefit to the owner.
  2. Keep some foam-padded sheets with you to avoid any damage to the truck while installing a toolbox. Take proper measurements and place the sheets on the bottom of the truck bed and on both sides of a toolbox. 
  3. Some trucks come with the cargo bay features that is they have holes on the truck bed with rubber fitting. You can take out the rubbers and properly placing the toolbox over them for fitting. You can open the lead of the box to perfectly place the box with matched holes. 
  4. After aligning the bed rail holes in a truck with toolbox holes fix them with Bolts. But some toolboxes come with different designs so the position of the hole may wary, in such case you can first repair the toolbox and then fix it. 
  5. To tighten the bolts you can use a screwdriver, wrench, and other equipment. But remember not to apply much force on it because there is fear of damaging the bed rail holes. Also, you must apply correct pressure because sometimes while installing you may see a gap between the toolbox and truck bed that will later give vibrations. Keep in mind to not apply much force and keep a small eye while fitting a toolbox.
  6. This is the final step that is also a confirmation step to look at whether it’s placed in the right position with no problems. Check the lead opening and closing areas are good doing or not. Also, check on the vibration and movements of a toolbox.

If everything looks good then you are successful in the installation of the toolbox in truck without drilling.

Note – Always keep your toolbox clean and your tools and equipment are in good condition.
